The "View" option is missing. Has it been moved somewhere?

The view option is a feature default of the gradebook - it should be here for you to use it for the different purposes it serves:

It is likely your internet browser and we recommend clearing the cache and cookies or trying another browser.

In Chrome
On your computer, open Chrome.
At the top right, click the three dots
Click settings
On the left, choose Privacy and Security
Then, clear browsing data
At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time. I suggest at least 4 weeks
Next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes.
Click Clear data.

If that doesn't fix it, try another browser or device. If it still isn't there, then you will want to speak with your school as they may have disabled that feature although it is unlikely.

Hi there, @PederLarsen ...

I think you actually have the "Enhanced Gradebook Filters" Feature Option turned on within your course. I'm not sure if the "Enhanced Gradebook Filters" Feature Option was turned on by your school's Canvas administrator for all courses at your school or if you have turned it on in your own course. When I enabled the "Enhanced Gradebook Filters" Feature Option in my own sandbox course, the "View" and "Actions" menu items on the top left corner of the Gradebook are not there any more. Those things have moved a bit when the "Enhanced Gradebook Filters" Feature Option is enabled.

First, check your course "Settings" screen. Then, click on the "Feature Options" tab. Do you see a row for "Enhanced Gradebook Filters"? If so, you should be able to enabled/disable it by clicking on the red "x" or the green checkmark button icon to the right of the name. If you don't see the "Enhanced Gradebook Filters" option as a row on this screen, my guess is that your school's Canvas administrator has enabled these Gradebook enhancements for everyone at your school.

When you look at your Gradebook, on the top right corner of the screen, do you have a cog wheel icon to the right of an "Export" button? Click on the cog wheel icon, and you should see a tab for "View Options". There are several options in there...including the "Arrange By" and "Status Color" sections which were in the "View" menu you were looking for. The filter options that were in the "View" menu are located in a button on the left side of the Gradebook just above the student names called "Apply Filters".

You might want to have a conversation with your school's Canvas administrator to see if decisions were made to enable these Gradebook enhancements for everyone. It is possible, at a Canvas admin level, to set this so that instructors can choose whether or not they want to enable the Gradebook enhancements per course. But, this would be a conversation you'd want to have with your Canvas administrator.
