While I don't have an exact answer to your question, whenever questions like this come up, I do always want to make sure everyone is aware of the the first bullet under the notes section of the quiz log guide. It states, "Quiz logs should not be used to validate academic integrity or identify occurrences of cheating." I know that makes things extremely difficult for everyone if you think there has been a case of cheating or misconduct, but since Instructure has that in the guide, I think it's extremely important to consider. I believe there are a lot of different reasons that possibly misleading messages could make it into the log (network connectivity issues, browser issues, notifications popping up and stealing focus from the browser, etc). I think all of the possible unknowns may be one of the reasons that Instructure made that statement. I guess more info about how the quiz log is generated would be nice, but it also may be almost impossible to account for every situation too.
I know this isn't a solution or answer, but I feel that it's important info for everyone to know.
