PowerPoint files from Onedrive loses the ability to annotate

PowerPoint embedded from a Onedrive losses it's annotation options 

I am attempting to store all of my course work PowerPoint files  on Onedrive and then embed them into the course material in pages of Canvas.   This gives our teachers the ability to "Take the Show on the road"  and use the embedded PowerPoint presentations in lecture.  This also insures that all presentations are up to date  The file is set share with Anyone who has the link, and the embed code is generated by Microsoft using the Onedrive embed option.   The embed code is then inserted into the page.  When the Canvas page is opened, it loads and will display the slideshow (including embedded videos), but, the annotation options normally available in the lower left had corner of each slide, are not available.   We use annotation often during our presentations, thus this is an important aspect of the PPT slideshow.    Below is a copy of the embed code:

We have also tried this using the web version of PowerPoint (Microsoft Office 365 app) and generated the embed code though File / Share / Embed, however when the embedded file loads the slide show PowerPoint stops responding after a few slides.

Instrestingly, it works fine with Google docs, however, we are, currently, a Microsoft driven instutition.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry it's taken so long for you to receive a response, @StephenBryant01. From your description of the problem, I suggest using a share link and not the embed code. That will open the PowerPoint drive using the pages provided by Microsoft and not embedded within someone else's frameset. My guess is that something about the way online PowerPoint is written prohibits the annotation tool from being visible. That would allow instructors to access the presentation and use annotations.
