Is there a way to duplicate a test and be able to modify it for my EC students without changing the original that other students need to take?

Hello @lori_cave . If you are using the New Quizzes (previously called Quizzes.next) then the duplicate is a feature. For the classic version it is not a built in feature but are some ways to accomplish it.
You can share it to commons, and then re-import it, or you can go to "settings" -> choose "Import Course Content" from the right side menu -> choose to import a Canvas course and select the same course you are in. Then instead of all content choose "Selected Content" and just import that specific quiz. You will want to rename one as soon as you do this so that you don't get confused which is which.
