RECITE ME -accessibility button

Hi there, 

I am trying to integrate the Recite Me toolbar and button into all my course pages but for some reason the HTML codes given is not working.  Has anyone tried this before?

Hi @tketo ...

I've never heard of RECITE ME or had an opportunity to use it, but I wonder if there are some HTML tags that are not allowed in Canvas that are causing the issues?  Canvas does have an "allow list" of what is and what is not allowed.  See Canvas HTML Editor Allowlist - Instructure Community - 387066 (canvaslms.com) for more information.

Thank you for your response.  The issue seems to be that when the code is inputted it does not save.  eg> we press 'save' and go back to the edit screen and the code disappears.

My end goal is to have a text to speech toolbar which can be used in Canvas.  We usually use the tool Recite Me for those who require support in reading the materials on our courses.

Yes, if you have HTML code that has tags that are not in the allow list, Canvas will strip those out when you save the page.  That's why you aren't seeing those tags when you go back to edit the page (after saving).
