i have this bug where i cant text other fellow mates (not teacher and helper a.k.a adults) I cant text with other students!!

Hi @DavidLaundrie,

This is likely a permission setting that's been intentionally set by your school/institution.  To confirm you could reach out to your local Canvas team (usually in the eLearning / IT / Digital Education areas of your school/institution) to inquire whether they have disabled the ability for students to message each other.
