I write courses for other teachers. I want them to be able to copy my courses but not be able to edit the master copy. Can this be done?

Hello @kerryconnolly22 ...
Yup...it sure is! I wrote a blog posting back in February 2017 called Our Custom "Viewer" Role for "Master" Courses. Even though I no longer work at that College, the directions should still apply. There may be some permissions that have changed slightly since I initially wrote that blog entry. However, for the most part, you should be able to apply what I've written to your own Canvas environment...assuming that you are a Canvas administrator and are able to create custom roles in your environment.
Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for this. It does give me a start. However, our teachers need to insert their own links to Padlets and various other things, so may need to edit some pages. They also may want to change some of their content. Can you please suggest anything else?
@kerryconnolly22 ...
Once our faculty and adjunct instructors imported content from the "master" to their own courses (using the roles described in my blog), then they could update their own courses without affecting the "master" we had on file.
Your initial question said that you didn't want them to edit the "master"....which is what our custom "Viewer" role accomplished. But you also stated that they need to edit some of their own content...which they still can do in their own semester courses since they will have the "Teacher" role in those courses.
