Removing a student and re-adding?

A student is getting odd messages when trying to accept the original or re-sent invitations to join the course. If I 'remove' them from the course, can I then re-add them with a new invitation to see if that corrects the problem?

@GinaGenova Yep! There is no harm in manually adding, removing, and re-adding a user to a course. What is the odd message they are receiving?

The answer depends on whether your students are added manually or by your Student Information System. If it is the latter then you probably shouldn't (and your Canvas should be configured to prevent teachers from dosing so).

You need to get to the bottom of what the issue is - have you talked to your Canvas team/IT support?

If the student has not accepted the invitation they will normally show as 'pending' and you have the option to resend invitations.

If they still can't get in (or are not showing as pending) then there may be an anomaly around their ID or login that you need to get to the bottom of....

@PaulFynn If the student has an invitation (and re-sent invitations) to the course, then that would mean that they were manually invited, right? I could be wrong, but I don't. think that SIS enrollment feeds create an invitation, they just enroll the student.
