Is there a way to automatically send certificates of completion to folks who complete our Canvas courses? For each unit we like to send certificates of completion to our participants, but we've been doing it by hand and I'm trying to automate the process. We have our own certificate design we like to use (maybe that's part of the issue?) I know that Canvas Catalog has a certificate option that can be toggled for each Catalog course, but there are only two templates (plus an HTML/CSS option). Is there a way we can use our existing custom template in Canvas directly, or is Catalog the best place to create and automate certificates?
Have you explored any third party solutions? We use Accredible to design, and send certificates. Like Canvas, it has a very user friendly API which you can use to generate and send certificates.
Accredible is way too costly.. Is there any other way we can create our own certificates on Canvas or any other third party solution which can help us with the integration?
Hi, I know this was a few years ago but wondered if you had found a solution?
I was able to resolve, yes. We use Catalog, which is also run by Instructure. I'm surprised they didn't recommend it themselves. https://www.instructure.com/canvas/catalog
Catalog is for enrollment and analytics. It serves as a webpage where you can host your courses for registration. But it also allows you to design and send certificates for each course based on completion parameters you establish within the course module(s).
