Speed grader

Spped grader is set up so that I cannot view the student's essay and the rubric on the same web page. 

it really make sit  difficult for me as an instructor to use a rubric to mark essays. Our canvas support team said it was an error in the Canvas software.

Can you provide more information on how the essay is submitted.

How are the students supplying the essay on Canvas?  As an assignment?  as the answer to a quiz?(if so new or classic).

Also, what is the essay submitted as (txt, docx, pdf, etc)?  

I have not seen the issue you have described - I give essay quiz questions (not file upload) and do not see the behavior you mentioned.

Also, with assignments, pdf or txt documents render in the rubric grading view.
