Um, has anyone done a Canvas orientation that includes like breakout groups or team activities?
I’m planning one for our new students at my University, and I’m wondering how to keep it interactive.
Would love some ideas!!
@OliviyaCarter Have you tried using Canvas Catalog for enrollment and Zoom for group breakouts? https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Catalog/What-is-Canvas-Catalog/ta-p/1764
@jsowalsk @OliviyaCarter For breakout groups, Canvas has a Groups tool that’s super handy. You could assign students into teams, and they’ll get their own little workspace to collaborate—think group discussions, file sharing, and assignments just for them.
Another idea: you could mix it up with some live Zoom sessions (Canvas has integrations for this) to do real-time breakout rooms. That way, they can work together while still feeling like part of the larger group.
What do you think? Have you tried anything similar before, or are you looking for ideas that are more independent?
