Submissions from Third Party apps failing

When turning in my assignment from a third party app, the assignment never actually got through and canvas didn't tell me. I checked the day after and it was late and unsubmitted. My question is, when you turn in an assignment from a third party app using "share", could the reason it wasn't submitted be because it failed to submit (like when you turn it in normally and it says "failed to submit, please try again") Can that happen with third party apps and does it not tell you or notify you when it happens/fails to submit? How should I prevent this?
