The turn in time is wrong, making my work late. Teacher says it's fine on her end.

My teacher has our classes assignments due at 11.59 on Sundays. However, for whatever reason mine is set for 10.59pm. And even checking my settings with my timezones it says that's all correct. The school is switching over to Cavnas soon, and I worry this might be an issue that will keep happening.

@SamGames You mention that your school is switching to Canvas soon. Does that mean you are not currently in Canvas?

I've been in college since the summer of 2023 and up until now I've only used Moodle (which sucked), so I'm still new to this.

Hi @SamGames 

When a date is set in Canvas, the setting is based on the time zone that is set for the school's Canvas server, or for the individual course if the instructor has set the time zone in the course settings.

So, if the school's Canvas (or the course) is set to use Eastern time, and you are in Central time (or at least, have set Central Time as your time zone in your Canvas account settings), then an 11:59pm due date set in the class will appear as 10:59pm for you.  This makes the assignment due at the same time *actual* time for all students no matter what time zone they are in.

Then why does it seem I'm the only one in class that is dealing with this issue. Other students said then when they encountered the issue they went into settings and changed it to Pacific time (which is what I'm at) but when I went to do that it's already set there.

We do not have any access to your course, or to your school's Canvas, so you will want to ask your instructor what time zone the due dates are in.

I know that. I didn't assume you would. And as I said I asked my teacher and according to her the time is set to Pacific.

I recommend contacting the Help Desk at your school to have them check the settings in Canvas.
