Track daily prepared

Hi!

I'm relatively new to Canvas.

I have a requirement of my students to be prepared in class with a charged Chromebook.  This year I am tracking this where each student can earn a point for each day they arrive with a charged Chromebook. 

I'd like to know the best way to track this in Canvas. It seems close to what the attendance does, but I'd like to set it up myself so I can adjust if I need to.

I'm curious how you check -- do you walk around the room and look at each?  (It seems like a lot of time to do this).

You could have a "no submission" assignment in Canvas and just open up your Gradebook (or even speedgrader, perhaps).   And each day go down the list of names and add an additional point each day.  The number of points will increase.  You would have to enter a new number each day someone comes with their device charged:   Today 1 point.  Next day change it to 2 points.  Next day change it to 3 points.  Next day, not charge?  Then leave it at 3 points.

I teach Tech Ed so they need their chromebooks everyday I have them in class so it is easy to see when someone is not prepared with a charged chromebook.  I did think of your idea but actually work the opposite direction. Start with everyone at 30 points (max they can get) and then reduce it by 1 each time they are not prepared.  Easier to track since I won't have to touch each grade of each student each class.

The only thing this does not track is the date they weren't prepared...in case it gets challenged then there is date tracking. So, curious what others have to suggest.
