Undelete a quiz

I accidentally deleted the wrong version of a quiz. I deleted the quiz that the students had already taken. Can I recover their grades or work? It was a quiz and an assignment. I have tried the undelete trick. It does not bring back my students' results/answers.

Click on the course Home page and add "/undelete" to the URL at the top of the screen. This will bring up a list of items that have been deleted from the course. Find the quiz in the list and click "Restore" to bring it back.

I have tried that but it does not bring up the kids' results.

If you have restored the quiz, you might be able to retrieve the grades from the gradebook history. Here's a guide on how to do that:  How do I view the history of all grading changes i... - Instructure Community - 783 

If the grades aren't in the Gradebook History, your Canvas admin might have a copy or record of them. You can contact them for assistance or indeed raise a support case with Instructure.

Another option is to check your beta course, which is usually updated weekly with a copy of your course data. However, keep in mind that access to the beta environment might be restricted to admins only, and the data there is only a snapshot from within the last week. The completed quiz and grades might still be available there. To find your beta course URL:

• Look at any course URL in Canvas. It's likely in the format https://***.instructure.com/, where *** represents your school name.
• Your beta course URL would be similar, but with .beta added before .instructure.com. For example: https://***.beta.instructure.com/.
• If you're unsure about your beta course URL, your Canvas admin should be able to provide it.

Regardless of which option you pursue, it's likely that you will have to re-add the quiz grades manually and that the student responses may be lost in the ether.

Go to the Home page of your course.  At the end of the URL, enter /undelete.  The Canvas will display all the files and quizzes you have deleted and show a Restore button for each.  Click on the Restore button and you will find the deleted file in its original place.
