Can a variable be placed inside a math object for formula questions? I want something like \dfrac{x}{`a`}, where `a` will be a variable I define? If not, how am I supposed to create fractions with a horizontal bar?

Hi @mscottindiana! You can use the Rich Content Editor in Quizzes to create a formula like the one you described. The guides below should help you learn how to access and use the Equation Editor.

One thing to note would be making sure you set up your question so you get the answer from learners in the desired format. There is a Fomula question type in New Quizzes. This guide provides help creating formula questions.
