duplicate assignments in syllabus and calendar but not in assignments

My assignments are all showing as duplicates in the syllabus listing and calendar but not in modules or in the assignments tab.    They are only entered once.  The grade book is populated by my university and the assignment show up there and again there are only listed once.  This is confusing to the students and I get duplicates for assignment completion in the dashboard.

This is really hard to troubleshoot without actually looking around your course.

Some things I might try to look at and see if it helps me get some clues to figure it out:

• From syllabus and calendar, click each of the assignments open in a new tab and see if the URL has the same, or different, ID number - that will help to know if they are in fact the same assignment appearing twice, or two different assignments
• Is the assignment assigned to different sections or students on different dates/times?  

Ultimately, you may want to tell your university Canvas Admin about the issue and if they can't figure it out, they may need to contact Canvas Support.   Without being able to click around and explore your course, it's hard to know.
