gradebook settings

Would like to keep the student overall grade in first column and then newest to oldest assignments from right to left in my gradebook.  But it keeps resetting back to default settings?

Just to make sure that we are discussing the same thing:

1. You are using the steps described in  How do I arrange columns in the Gradebook? - Instructure Community - 1018  and sorting by "Due Date - Newest to Oldest".
2. You are using the steps described in  How do I use the Total column in the Gradebook? - Instructure Community - 788  and "Move to Front" for the "Total" column to the front.

Doing both of those is not being remembered?
