launch presentation return url for external app

Hi all,

Currently we have created a Pearson app as an external app in Canvas. It has a functionality where a user clicks a button and it should redirect the user back to the beginning. 

When we are doing an LTI launch we receive the LMS return URL as follows. 

launch_presentation_return_url  : https://pearson.instructure.com/courses/{courseID}/external_content/success/external_tool_redirect

unfortunately this URL redirect the user to a blank page. 

But the value we are expecting is like this: 

https://pearson.instructure.com/courses/2069715/external_tools/285991 

- Are we missing any configurations values which will enable us to get the expected result in the "launch_presentation_return_url" which allows the user to redirect to the beginning page. 

Please help us in getting the return URL for the external tool in Canvas.

I wanted to check in with you because there hasn't been any new activity in this topic since your initial question and stefaniesanders‌' reply on February 15th.  It appears that you may have stumped members of the Canvas Community with your question.  Have you been able to find a solution on your own since the middle of February that you would be willing to share with us here in the Community?  Or, are you still seeking assistance with this question?  If you could please come back here to post an update, that would be helpful.  Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
