[ARCHIVED] why can't my new students enroll on Canvas?

So we are using free canvas for teachers and we have free courses. I have been using canvas with my students for about 4 weeks now with no problem having students signing up to our courses. Unfortunately my recent new students are not able to sign up for an account. If you can please help me with this situation that would be wonderful.

If the students are trying to sign up using the "Need a Canvas Account? It's Free!" link, our engineers are aware of a current problem and they are getting it fixed right now!

As a workaround, you can set up your course to use a join code/custom URL that you can distribute to users and they'll have no problems signing up that way. Instructions can be found here: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-26298-how-do-i-enable-course-self-enrollment-with-a-join-co...
