ADDITIONAL FEEDBACK—WHERE TO POST IDEA SUGGESTIONS AND SUBMIT BUG REPORTS

- Bug reports should be submitted to Canvas Support. This way, cases can be connected and uniform updates can be provided to those involved. Bugs will not be triaged in this thread
If "disable comments on announcements" is selected in the Course Details tab and if a student replies to an announcement notification, will that comment be posted to the announcement? I assume the reply would not be posted as a comment, however, I want to make sure I understand how this setting works. If the comment is not posted, where does the student's reply end up?
The behavior seemed to make sense and works well.
When comments are off, the message"Replies to this email will be posted as a reply to the announcement,..." doesn't appear in the notification e-mail. If I reply to it I get an e-mail back saying "The message... could not be delivered because the discussion topic is locked. If you are trying to contact someone through Canvas you can try logging in to your account and sending them a message using the Inbox tool."
When comments are on, the message "Replies to this email will be posted as a reply to the announcement,..." appears in the e-mail and I can successfully reply back to it. It looks kind of funky so I don't think I'd recommend it as it includes the quote of the initial announcement, but it does work.

Good deal! Thanks so much, Melanie, for the detailed reply!
@kroeninm If you are the teacher, your announcement notification does not show the new footer "Replies to this email will be posted as a reply to the announcement, which will be seen by everyone in the course. " But if you are the student that new footer does show up in courses where announcement replies are disabled.
@InstContentTeam This update is causing confusion for my users. Can the coding be adjust to exclude that message when announcement replies are disabled by an institution?
@audra_agnelly Thanks for contacting us. We are aware that this is confusing and we fixed it during this week. It will take a while to be in production following our regular release process.
The RCE Drag and Drop release slipped past me until this afternoon. Does it work reliably? I can copy and paste but am not having any luck with drag and drop from the desktop of my Mac with a standard .jpg and .png into the RCE window.
I deliberately opened the finder window and dragged from Mac OS Finder into the RCE of an announcement reply in Chrome.
The release notes describe it as "...users can copy an image, audio, or video file from a file system directory viewer, such as the macOS Finder or Windows File Explorer and paste it in the RCE. "
I can log a support ticket but just wanted to make sure it wasn't user error.
