ADDITIONAL FEEDBACK—WHERE TO POST IDEA SUGGESTIONS AND SUBMIT BUG REPORTS
- Idea requests for the Product Team to consider should be submitted in ideas.canvaslms.com . This is the best way to ask for additional or alternative functionality than what is included in the release. Linking to the related idea here so others can find it is encouraged!
- Bug reports should be submitted to Canvas Support. This way, cases can be connected and uniform updates can be provided to those involved. Bugs will not be triaged in this thread
I would like additional detail and clarity on this item:
Refined semantic markup in the user interface to improve communication of content relationships and hierarchy.
Since many customizations rely on specific HTML structures, knowing in advance what changes are being made to the semantic markup would allow for adjusting any of those customizations proactively.
On the Import Content Page, I'm curious to know why the button text is changing from "Import" to "+ Add to Import Queue"? The current text (just saying "Import") seems to make more sense to me, especially when nothing else on the page is called an Import Queue.
Also, others pointed this out in the February 2025 notes already, but I'd also like the "Select Content Type" drop down to keep "Copy a Canvas Course" as the first option. In most cases, instructors will be choosing that option so it should remain at the top. But I'm still seeing "Canvas Course Export Package" first and then "Copy a Canvas Course."

Under the "Content imports" section (in production, it's "Current Jobs"), I'm noticing that the "Partially Completed" alert may not meet accessibility standards for color contrast. In production, these alerts appear as "Completed" but with an orange background (that also doesn't meet color contrast standards but Beta looks like a slightly darker orange). I'd probably prefer the new alert be just a bit darker so there's sufficient color contrast for AA for regular text. The other colors (green and gray) meet that standard already.

I agree that the language "Add to Import Queue" isn't helpful for faculty. "Import" is better. Also, "Copy a Canvas Course" should remain at the top of the list.
I have the same concern as @rmartini has. The new order of items in the Select Content Type drop-down menu will confuse instructors. The concern I stated in last month's release notes appears to have not changed in beta. This concern is about the Search for a course field, which is currently displayed as a drop menu and a search field if the user doesn't have too many courses on their ID and is not an admin. It would be nice to know how many courses invoke the removal of the drop-down menu. My dummy instructor that I tested this with only has six courses. I have updated my ticket (11726556).
Including the course settings in the course content copy is causing issues in future terms. We allow our faculty to update their participation from "term" to "course" if they want their students to have access outside the regular term dates. This used to not be an issue, however the copy process updates the new course to "course" as well but without any access date restrictions.
I'm going to create a ticket, but this is already causing issues in our summer sessions and will be a much larger problem for our fall term.
