invalid security portfolio path message

I can upload documents and read them online. I click on "finish later" when done because they are not yet published. When I go back to the documents I cannot open them and I get the message "invalid security portfolio path" in the upper left hand corner of a black screen where the document should be. This has happened multiple times. It is under the "portfolio" tab.
