Is it possible to enable Canvas Studio in some Canvas courses, while disabling it in others? Essentially, we want to manage our storage/usage carefully, and we don't want a "free for all" in courses that don't actually need it.

Not to my knowledge. The "Studio" button lives on the global navigation menu so that it is available for all users...not for just some. What if someone who wanted to use Studio didn't have it available for him/her? How would you go about making it available? In my opinion, it's not hurting anything to have it available if someone isn't going to use it. You might want to reach out to your Instructure Customer Success Team to see exactly how much storage space you have available in Studio. If I remember from my past job, we got "x" amount of space per FTE (Full Time Enrollment). I imagine it might be something similar for you as well.

I'm not sure I understand your recent reply in this thread. I tried to address your question saying that you can't make Canvas Studio only available to some people/courses and not to others. Canvas Studio is a tool that is available to everyone at your school via the "Studio" icon on your left-hand global navigation menu. Further, once instructors have embedded Studio media into their courses, they can click on the "Studio" course navigation menu to access any media that is a part of that course. (Students do not have the "Studio" course navigation menu, they only have the "Studio" icon in the left-hand global navigation menu.) Again, if you are concerned about storage space for Studio content, you should reach out to your Customer Success Team at Instructure to see exactly how much storage space you have available for Studio content. Also, if you are a Canvas admin, you also have a Studio analytics screen that would show you some helpful information about all the videos that are a part of your school's account.
I hope this additional information will help to answer your questions.

ok...that is good to know. I don't think it can be assigned at the course level, though. Good to know it can be configured for an entire sub-account though. Thanks for the inforamation!
