June 2023 • While we have delivered on select ideas within this theme, we won’t be able to deliver on the key outcomes in this larger theme and plan to break it down into smaller themes targeted at specific needs and problems. 

October 2023 • Teaching large courses where multiple instructors are involved can be inefficient due to challenges with enrollments, grading, and more. There are opportunities to streamline certain aspects of Canvas courses to let teachers focus on being more effective.

October 2023 • A critical component to learning is providing timely feedback, which will enable students to stay on track and help instructors to provide guidance precisely and proactively, ensuring a more effective and rewarding learning experience for all.

October 2023 • Providing additional opportunities for student-driven learning in Canvas will empower individuals to take ownership of their education, fostering intrinsic motivation, critical thinking skills, and a lifelong love for learning.

October 2023 • As institutions explore competency-based education to help students develop and demonstrate proficiency of topics and skills, build a culture of equity and inclusivity, and to prepare students for life beyond the walls of their institution, they are looking for efficient and effective course creation and delivery along with improved visibility for students about their learning and growth opportunities, not just the grade attained. 

April 2023 • As more institutions move toward competency-based education models, we want to ensure that we support a more seamless learning platform that works end to end.

June 2023 • Support for competency-based education initiatives is critical to our strategy; however, this theme does not fit within our capacity for 2H as we continue to deliver on our core roadmap and is something we will evaluate in further quarters. 

October 2023 • Teachers need enhanced functionality to provide more dynamic uses of existing question types that will improve the way they ask questions and the experience of taking a quiz for students.

October 2023 • Modules are essential to good course design, but students find a long list view overwhelming and want more guidance and visibility into progress. We want to improve modules to help students progress through their course while creating a flexible and simple user interface for educators.
