The Instructional Design team launched their first Ready-Made Template in September 2018 to "help reduce stress load, encourage growth, and help course creators design an engaging Canvas experience by turning a blank course shell into a fill-in-the-blank Canvas course." It’s been a tremendous success and users across the board have loved this addition to the Instructional Design services. Templates are intentionally designed to incorporate best practices (aligning with principles from the Course Evaluation Checklist v2.0) and are easy to use. To learn more about Ready-Made Templates, join us for this session.

Description

With each announcement in Release Notes, we test and question the changes. We also determine whether or not teachers need to be trained on updates. Since so many people do this already (many times on their own), why not share your notes and join a conversation? We'll work asynchronously and synchronously in a chatroom!

Agenda

We'll take a detailed look at all of the updates in the Canvas Release Notes (2020-08-15)We'll share our excitement, discuss our concerns, and come up with suggestions to post back to the Community.

  • What excites you about the changes?
  • What doesn't work exactly like described in the Release Notes?
  • What do you wish was different? Are there any new feature ideas that could be shared with others?
  • How do you plan to roll-out some of the updates to your staff or students?

On Thursday, July 30th, let's meet synchronously for 45-minutes at 12:30pm MDT. (We usually meet approximately 10 days after the publication of the Release Notes.) If a Community Member from Europe or Australia would like to "host" another session also, let Kristin know! If you can make the synchronous chat, awesome! The more the merrier, but don't feel you are required to attend a synchronous chat in order to participate in the chat!

Additional Resources

  • Participants will need to sign up for a free Fleep account. It's easy to sign in using a Google or Microsoft email address. The link to this event's chat will be posted shortly after the publication of the Release Notes.
  •  All other documents will be linked in a comment at the conclusion of the synchronous chat.

EVENT TIP
Always RSVP to an event (whether it's yes/no/maybe). It's a great way to get updates about this session, participate in follow-up discussions, and be notified of upcoming events similar to this topic or with this host. (NOTE: You must activate your community account before RSVPing to any CanvasLIVE event.)

Hello! I am Misty, a Canvas Advocate and Canvas administrator for a K-12 district in North Texas. Is your campus/school/district/whatever making the full time move to Canvas? Are you feeling overwhelmed? Do you have questions about building courses and creating content in Canvas? Or maybe, you feel great and just have a quick question? Either way, stop by and ask away! I can't promise I will be able to answer every question asked, but I will do my best. Anyone looking for a little help getting their Canvas course up and going is welcome to attend!

The agenda will be fluid, the questions you ask will guide our time. Feel free to stop in for a few minutes or stay the entire time and listen to other questions too. The great thing about office hours like these, you do what fits your need!

The Zoom link will prompt you to download Zoom for your computer or mobile device.  Zoom will be needed to join this meeting.
