I have a professor who teaches a course that runs from May to June, so not the full Summer term. When they go to New Analytics it shows that there is no new analytics. We waited the 24 hours like it said and there are submissions from students within the course. I have attached a screenshot of the screen we see. I also attached a screenshot of something I saw on the forums but this won't apply to us due to us not being able to change the course Start and End dates to Term due to the shorter class timeframe. Any ideas how to make New Analytics work? Thanks in advance!
Hello @AlecKulm ,
Thank you for sharing the screenshots. It is very helpful. I checked New Analytics in my own instance and it seems to work on my end. Have you tried contacting support@instructure.com to see if there is an issue with that specific course? Also, is this happening in other courses?
I sent an email to them this morning. I've only had one professor come to me about issues with New Analytics. I also know that not every teacher uses it, so I'm not sure how widespread the issue is.
New Analytics has issues with large courses. See "Why is New Analytics not loading for very large courses?' header in the New Analytics FAQ webpage.
How large is this course in terms of students and assignments?
The formula is number of students * number of assignments = weight
Canvas says New Analytics is tested to work for courses with weight of up to 50,000.
My institution has a few resource courses where all students are enrolled. For new analytics to work on these courses, we had to create multiple copies of the shells tied to a blueprint. We had a course with 20,000 students * 12 assignments. New Analytics would not load.
Thanks
Will
Please note that the article linked above says report any loading misbehavior in courses with a weight of under 50,000 should be reported to them.
Thanks
Will
