Linking to Moodle from Canvas

I would like some direction in creating an API in Canvas that will link to an external Moodle site.  Is there any documentation that will get me started?  Thanks!

Please describe what you are looking to do when you say 'link from Canvas to Moodle.  Do you want users to go from one LMS to the other without the need to authenticate a second time?   Do you wish to pass grades?

1) Currently students log into their school Canvas account but the quizzes, hw, etc reside on a Moodle LMS.  Yes we want to eliminate the need to authenticate a second time on the Moodle LMS.

2) Passing grades from the Moodle LMS would be nice but not required.

I really feel your pain as we went through the transition, Moodle to Canvas, as well, and we are a small school.  

The simplest route would be to have an SSO setup to authenticate to both systems, but that may not be possible.  I am certain someone here has already built something for this.   I am searching for it because I am interested in the topic.

Apparently there is no documentation for authentication between Canvas and other LMS.  Does anyone know what authentication method Canvas prefers" Oauth2, ???  Perhaps if we knew that it would point us in the right direction.

I believe the answer for Canvas is SAML.
