Deleting a Rubric from an Assignment

With the most recent update to Enhanced Rubrics, if you try to remove a rubric from an assignment using the trash can icon, it actually deletes the rubric from the entire course.

With "old" rubrics, deleting the rubric from the assignment only removed the rubric from the assignment, it did not delete the rubric entirely. 

This is going to be a MAJOR problem. 

We need a way to remove a rubric from an assignment, while keeping the rubric in the "Rubrics" area of that course. This functionality should be changed and that trash can icon should maybe be changed to a button that says "remove from assignment".

I did not have this experience. I was expecting this behaviour so I made a copy of the rubric before I deleted it. However it only deleted it from the assignment, not from the course. I'm wondering what the difference was in our workflows.

If the rubric is used in more than one place it does not delete it.

Ah ha! Thanks for the clarification. Good to know. Yes, I agree we need an option to delete a rubric from an assignment without deleting from the course.

Yes, they need to fix this. Although, it was always like this even with old rubrics for me. The problem now is, there's no way to switch to a new rubric instead. You used to be able to click the find rubric button even when one was already attached to the assignment. Now, if you are using a rubric that's only used on this assignment, and you want to switch to a new rubric, you have to delete the rubric entirely.

Is this still an issue for you? I see this was reported back in February, I'm suprised Canvas haven't commented on this. Is the issue still outstanding?

Yes, it still is an outstanding issue and it is quite frustrating. We need to be able to remove a rubric from an assignment without it being permanently deleted from the course. 

As I tested this morning, there is a confirmation box stating that you are about to permanently delete the rubric, but to me it's still not super transparent. Some will question, is deleting it from the assignment or deleting it from the course? And if it's deleting it from the course, how do I remove it from the assignment without deleting it from the course? Which there isn't an answer for.
