It appears that Canvas does not support including unscored rubric items in the “highest to lowest” order. Even assigning 0 points does not keep them in place. The student facing color coding that is applied to rubrics in Canvas is assigned based on the "highest to lowest" order I set when I created the rubric. Therefore the some of the items are incorrectly coded as red (lowest ranking) when in fact they are highest ranking. I know I could switch the rubric to display rankings from lowest to highest to avoid this issue but it seems that this should be a capable function. Also interesting is I can manually go into the rubric and shuffle the rankings around from highest to lowest and save it but it resorts back to the original. I tried making another rubric (also did not work).
I would like to have unscored items for assessment tracking purposes but the color coding will be confusing to students. My only other options are to eliminate the line items or give points. I do not understand why this is a limitation when other LMS platforms are able to do this.
