As a homeschooler , I have an existing course where Ive been added as a teacher and I would also like to be a parent observer for a different course. I don't have an option to in my "account"menu to add "observing". It goes from "shared content" to "QR for mobile login." Is there a way to add observer option. I don't have a school administrator, its just a k12 account.

Hi there @BeccaLeotaud ,
In Free for Teacher, the Observing link is exclusive to accounts that are observer-type accounts that already have students connected. While the link does not appear on your teacher account, you can still access the menu by going to k12.instructure.com/profile/observees (assuming you're using K12 FFT). You can then add students via pairing code from there. You can also accomplish this via the mobile app. The link should then appear from there.
I hope that helps!
Hi @BeccaLeotaud ...
Are you using the Free For Teacher (FFT) version of Canvas which is located at https://canvas.instructure.com? If so, FFT does not have an admin area, so it's not possible to do administrative things in that environment like it would be in a paid Canvas environment. Since I'm not exactly sure if you are using FFT, in your Canvas course, on the "People" page, you could click on the three dots to the right of your name to change your role from "Teacher" to "Observer", but that might be exactly what you want...I'm not sure.

I hope this might help in some way. Keep us posted here in the Community...thanks!
