My Assignments page keeps freezing

My assignments page freezes when I try to load it.  If I keep saying "Wait" when given the option to wait or close it eventually gets there, 3-5 minutes later.  I can't do something on another tab or app while I wait or it will go blank and I have to start all over again.  The assignments page is the only one doing this. I have deleted everything I can thinking that might be the issue, but that didn't help. I have always been told to use Canvas in Chrome and have not tried to use it elsewhere.  Please help - I've got 18 more days to get through and I may lose my mind!!
