UI MISBEHAVES

My UI misbehaves and leaves a big white space at the right of the screen (as seen in the image) and even if you clear cache or refresh the page or use a different browser it doesn't go back. any way to fix this problem?

Hi @clarencejohn ...

Are you seeing all this white space on any course page that you visit within Canvas?  Or, is it just this particular page that you are seeing the issue?  Have you tried using a different computer altogether to see if things look any different?  I don't know if there is some underlying code on that particular page that is causing the page you've shown to display all that white space or not, but I guess it's certainly possible.  I know there is a setting that an instructor can turn on/off which causes the content displayed to utilize more of the space on the screen (so you don't see so much white space), but to be honest, what you are showing is significantly more white space than I have seen with this particular setting turned on.

Another question for you...  do you know what zoom percentage you have your browser set at?  Usually, this is at 100%.  You can use the keyboard combo Ctrl+ or Ctrl- to increase/decrease the zoom percentage.  Or, I wonder if your screen resolution is set differently than the recommended screen resolution?

Hope this might give you some possibilities to consider as you are troubleshooting this.  Keep us posted here in the Community.

The white spaces tend to persist from dashboard to courses and settings but when i visit the calendar and inbox its in full page. Already tried using different browser (From Edge to Chrome) and clearing all data before logging in again but nothing changed. For the zoom percentage, its 100% as per normal webpage to show that i did not tinker anything while using the page. and even if you zoom in or out the white space persist to be in there and need to be in 150% zoom (which is absurd) to not see the white spaces.

Thanks for the reply.  Have you tried viewing the content in Mozilla Firefox to see if anything looks different?

I need to correct part of my earlier response.  The option that I had referenced earlier that instructors can turn on/off is actually an option that is toggled by your school's local Canvas administrator...for schools that choose to pay for Canvas.  But, it looks like you are using the Free-for-Teachers (FFT) version of Canvas, and there is no administrator functionality in this version of Canvas.  So, you *may* be stuck with this view.  If your school was using a paid version of Canvas, then your school's Canvas administrator(s) would have a toggle switch that allows content to utilize the full width of your screen and not show that extra white space on the right side.

sad to say nothing changed even if i use mozilla firefox. so basically there is nothing i can do right now? and will probably have to take the exam and other works here in canvas with this type of ui?

Yes, you may have to just live with the UI you are seeing when logged into the FFT version of Canvas.  Again, if your school was using a paid Canvas account, your school's Canvas admin could configure this a bit differently.
