It’s time to take accessibility to the next level with Impact’s new Accessibility Campaign suite. Building on the success of last year’s accessibility campaign “Accessibility in a Canvas Course”, this new suite provides instructors with practical guidance to create text, image, video, and audio content that is inclusive, engaging, and fully usable for all students.
By applying the four foundational principles of accessibility — Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust — instructors can ensure that course content is accessible to students using assistive technologies, mobile devices, or alternative learning environments. The campaigns streamline accessibility practices and make it easier to adopt inclusive design across all course materials.
With Canvas tools like the Accessibility Checker and Closed Captioning inside the features Rich Content Editor (RCE) and Canvas Studio, instructors can quickly check content for accessibility, add alt text, captions, transcripts, and structure content for clarity.
To help instructors build confidence and consistency and enhance the student experience, Impact offers a set of Out-of-the-Box campaigns.
The campaigns deliver short messages directly inside Canvas courses and Studio, guiding instructors with accessible practices where they matter most:
Accessibility overview: Why accessibility is important and how the four principles can be applied.
Text Accessibility: Clear headings, readable structure, and good contrast.
Image Accessibility: Adding alt text, avoiding text in images, and using descriptive file names.
Video & Audio Accessibility: Captions, transcripts, and clear sound, with guidance for Canvas Studio.
Rich Content Editor (RCE): Using the built-in Accessibility Checker to catch common issues early.
Dyslexia-friendly font: Enable the new dyslexia-friendly font
