The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December. Read our blog post for more info about this change.
In this session, Microsoft will introduce the new Microsoft 365 Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) experience. The new Microsoft 365 LTI app consolidates and enhances the capabilities of multiple individual tools into one convenient solution, creating a more unified and efficient experience within your LMS.
Institutions currently using the Class Teams or Meetings LTIs will need to transition to the new integration once it becomes available.
If you have any questions regarding the Microsoft365 LTI experience, please contact Microsoft Edu Support
Will the recording be available for those that would like to hear but missed the majority of the event?
Hi,
The recording is now available, linked above. Thank you!
What do you mean "will need to transition to the new integration once it becomes available". It is available and my understanding is that the old LTI will no longer work on September 15th but there has been no migration plan released by Instructure or Microsoft. We have tested the new LTI but not sure what to do with the "old" LTI for Teams, OneDrive, Notebook, and Classes. As Sept 15 is not here yet, not sure if we leave them for the short-term or they just stop working so no reason to keep them.
hi @KelliBrenner2 - The following documentation has been provided by Microsoft with Tips on migrating from the legacy Instructure Office 365, or other Microsoft LTI apps. We're using the verbiage provided.
very disappointed to have missed this. I typically pay very close attention to everything in the Community including upcoming events, but seems like I missed the memo on this one, probably because classes just started less than 2 weeks ago and it's chaos. Would love to have another chance to meet with Microsoft LTI reps!
I agree. Not sure how this was advertised, but I never saw it come through. Would love a chance to view a recording when it's available.
Hi,
You’ll find the link to the recording above. Microsoft hosts LTI Office Hours on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at 11 AM EST, where you can connect directly with their LTI Product Team. You can register for those sessions using this link: https://aka.ms/LTIOfficeHours
Thank you! When will the updated slide deck be available? I remember the presenter said he would share as much of the slide deck with us as he could. Having that information to share with our ITS team would be most helpful. Also, did the folks from Microsoft happen to share with your team how they plan on letting people know when their documentation has been updated? Thanks again!
Hi Nicole,
Microsoft is working with their internal teams on approval to share this. If they are able to do so, we will include the slide deck on this post.
Thank you!
Thanks a million! I really appreciate it.
OK so in testing.. I am looking at the instructions, I am wondering as I go through the steps, are the terms Teams and Teams Classes the same? My LMS admin is not looking for Teams Classes?
@jeff_steffens Yes, Teams Classes (old integration) maps to Teams (new integration). So, that should be toggled on.
Thanks I appreciate the conformation.
Same. I had hoped to ask during the office hours but messed up the time zone. Maybe another ticket to Microsoft.
Same here - were you able to resolve this issue?
YAY mine is working now 🙂
@jonna_radegard @JohnCook45 and @CindyDuncan - The Microsoft team has ongoing Microsoft LTI Office Hours 1st & 3rd Thursday of each month 11AM EST @ https://aka.ms/LTIOfficeHours
I did however find the following documentation on the Microsoft website in relation to assignments here. It suggests that the issue could be from a setup configuration (Admin) or a possible subscription based scenario. @JohnCook45 - If you do get feedback from your Microsoft case, be great to share the result.
