This session will introduce you to the specific workarounds to replicate these tools in Canvas, while providing new ideas and fresh insight into these activities.

The different blogging examples were really insightful, I could see they would be a more enjoyable assignment to complete as a student than a paper! It is a great way to share information and give students an authentic audience that will view their work and demand a certain amount of quality of it.

Using the group creator to make exactly as many student groups as there are students for semi-private journaling is a great idea!

Thank you! Your presentation sets a high bar for the sessions at Instructurecon and I am excited about what's coming this year. The workarounds are helpful, especially the challenges you noted. I prefer to use an LMS's built-in tools wherever possible for the sake of having a single login, easy connection to grades, and a single support point. Making creative use of a system's tools is one of the things that makes it fun.

Very informative. I will provide our teachers with your guidelines in setting up blogs and journals using the discussion tool. Our students already use Google Docs instead of Canvas Pages.
