Abstract / Session Overview

University of Missouri System’s Missouri Online piloted Impact last year and Rio Sloan shares their experience, learning points, and resources created to help manage Impact campaigns and messages.

Session Summary

At the beginning of their Impact on-boarding process, questions and concerns were identified; how can Impact be presented as a helpful messaging tool and not “just another popup”? In answering this question, it was helpful to hear other Impact users’ experience, as well as watch previous InstructureCon Impact sessions to get ideas. Early campaigns were created with no policy set yet, but this has helped the team get to know their user base and how their users interact with Impact. Gaps that need to be addressed, in order to better manage campaigns, include better ways of tracking and identifying running campaigns, a need for a policy and guidelines when creating and managing Impact campaigns, and the type of message content that should be allowed.

With Impact now a permanent messaging option available within Canvas, the team was able to create a workflow and develop clear guidelines and policy for creating and managing their Impact campaigns.
