Objectives:
Learn how to collaborate across departments to evaluate ed tech tools and build a coherent digital ecosystem for learning.
Learn how to use technology to coordinate and manage ongoing, engaging professional learning for educators.
Learn how to build and manage teams to amplify and replicate effective teaching practices across the district.
Purpose: Create systems and processes that allow for desired outcomes; leverage current technology to support and enhance practices; provide ongoing and responsive professional learning; partner with end users and follow their lead.
Method: Address each area of the Virtual Learning Equity Indicator in a systematic manner, starting with Technical Needs and working the way up the pyramid to Equity Needs.
Technical Needs - Students and educators have access to a reliable: Device and Internet Connection, System Information System, Learning Management System, and Digital Resources for learning
Training Needs - Professional Learning is built to fit the needs and circumstances of adult learners. Educators engage in professional learning on how to best use digital tools centered on a tiered system of support. Educators engage in dialogue to amplify and enhance use of the district adopted resources.
Monitoring Needs - Students are accessing the digital resources as intended. Educators implemented LMS and digital resources as intended. Educators are evaluating use of digital applications.
Engagement Needs - Educators have identified quality engagement and it is aligned to the district’s instructional framework & portrait of a graduate. Amplifying and replicating quality engagement needs to be a priority for district level departments and teams.
Equity Needs - System and processes need to be developed to support: Flexible Access, Student Voice, Systems of Intervention, and Progress and engagement monitored by educators
Conclusion
For leaders, it is important to consider how as a system the district is making sure to address all areas of the Virtual Learning Equity Indicator and how teams are collaborating to ensure the needs of students are being met. For teachers, consider your classroom and how you empower your students to have choice in accessing and demonstrating knowledge using the technology and digital applications provided to you by your district.
