InstructureCon 2025
We call ourselves #SoloPandas—the brave adventurers who pack their bags, board planes or trains (or drive their cars), and head to Spokane without a built-in travel buddy. Whether it’s your first time at InstructureCon or your fifth solo trek, we see you. And we think it’s time we met up at the Opening Reception.
Every visitor to the forest has a story to tell, and at InstructureCon you’ll be surrounded by people with things to share and questions to ask about teaching with technology. You’ll eventually strike up a conversation with someone friendly. But why leave that to fate when you can make an intentional connection!
Come meet other #SoloPandas at Registration as the Opening Reception kicks off from 6:00–6:30 PM on Tuesday, July 22. Spot someone who looks like they’re wondering if everyone else already knows each other (spoiler: they don’t). Keep an eye out for Community Coaches in their black shirts – @valentinesking, @chriscas, @MatthewJennings, and me! We’ll be there to give you a #SoloPanda welcome, answer your #SoloPanda questions, and help connect you with other awesome #SoloPandas.

There’s something magical about taking a leap and showing up solo. It’s brave. It’s bold. And it’s a legendary way to open yourself to unexpected friendships, powerful conversations, and surprising moments of “I’m so glad I came.”
Find a connection with other valiant visitors and continue your journey into the Instructure Community by spending some time with the other #SoloPandas. Though we arrive separately and as the sole representatives of our institutions, we can help each other find a sense of belonging at InstructureCon as we add our voices to the tales of the trees.

I have been teaching in a technology-mediated environment since the days of HyperCard and teach classes in history, online student success, and how to be a health care IT trainer. I am the distance education coordinator at Cosumnes River College and a facilitator for the Online Network of Educators. In 2019 I was awarded Canvas Educator of the Year. Every day I learn more about Canvas.
