Hello,

I was wondering if anyone uses blogs and canvas and how they do it? How do you connect the two? Can you embed your blog into canvas?

Hi David.

Perhaps you mean student blogs and Canvas. I've been using Canvas and student blogs for the past two years. It's super easy to have the student submit each blog post to Canvas and give them feedback via the Speed-grader. I usually just share their blogs via a page on my own personal blog. You can see that page at

bit.ly/davidtedublogs

But this year I am thinking of:

  • Creating a image/collage of the logos from my student blogs
  • Or creating an image of all of their first names
  • Or using an interesting image and then
  • Having the students drop a link on the image to their blog and then
  • I can embed the image on a Canvas page and all of the students can see each other and click on their blogs to see what they've done lately.

I've also thought of just embedding a Wordpress.com blog page in a Canvas page and letting the students view the blog posts as they are created and shared.

One of the easiest ways to incorporate your blog in Canvas is through the Announcements feature in your courses. One of the options in the Announcements is to add an external RSS feed. How do I add an external RSS feed to my Announcement?

You can use this feature to add the feed from your blog. Every new post in the blog will generate an announcement.
