Media cannot be attached in Conversations

This behavior has been resolved and deployed to the production environment as of 8/27/25.

Description

In the Inbox, attempting to attach media to a conversation message fails. After recording or uploading media and selecting Save Media or Submit the Upload Media modal closes, but the media is never uploaded or attached to the message.

Expected Behavior

The media should appear in the draft and the message should send successfully with the media included.

Workaround

Attach the media as a file using the paperclip icon

Steps to Reproduce

Prerequisites: A course with two teachers enrolled.

  1. As one of the teachers open the Inbox and compose message

  2. Select the media icon at the bottom of the compose modal and attempt to either record or upload media to add to the message.

  3. Send the message and note that the media is not attached.
