Can students take assessment on their chromebooks? If so, how can a teacher assign this to his/her students?

Students can take assessments in Chromebooks using the Mastery Connect Student App for mobile devices.

How do I take an assessment using the Mastery Connect Student app as a student? 

You can also secure the testing on a Chromebook if Respondus Lockdown Browser is installed on the devices. You can then enable Lockdown Browser in a tracker for all assessments or for individual assessments. These articles should help:
