Canvas/MasteryConnect Integration
Instructure introduces a deeper integration for customers using Canvas LMS and MasteryConnect. This integration includes the ability to connect a tracker to a Canvas course, auto create Canvas assignments from MasteryConnect assessments, and post all data from MasteryConnect assessments to the Canvas Gradebook. This update creates the pivotal connection between Canvas and MasteryConnect.
Note: This feature will be released iteratively to users throughout the next seven days.
Link Mastery Tracker
Mastery Trackers can be linked to a Canvas course. Users can link a Mastery Tracker by clicking the Link Mastery Tracker link. Linking a Mastery Tracker to a course links all sections of that course to a Tracker. A Tracker can also be linked to a Canvas course with cross-listings.
Users can choose to create a new Tracker from a standard set, create a new Tracker from a curriculum map, or link an existing Tracker.
The Tracker can then be viewed in a course. After the Tracker is linked, any added assessment creates an unpublished Canvas assignment. MasteryConnect assessments can be added to modules, linked to MasteryPaths, and published for students to access through Canvas.
If an existing Tracker is linked, the students in that section display in the Students column. If a new tracker has been created for the course, students will need to be added to the Tracker.
Assessments
Assessments can be added in the Tracker, either by creating a new assessment or adding an existing assessment.
New assessments can be added using the Add Assessment button. Creating a MasteryConnect assessment from the Tracker in Canvas will automatically create a Canvas assignment for that assessment. Additionally, the Mastery Tracker can be edited directly in Canvas.
Additionally, raw score assessments will create Canvas assignments.
Once an assessment is added, users can view the assessment, item analysis, or modal from the Mastery Assignment.
Mastery assignments are automatically linked for LTI student access and grade passback. This update allows users to view data in the Canvas Gradebook as well as see a standards-mastery view in the Tracker. Users can view scores in the Canvas Gradebook from multiple MasteryConnect assessment types: mixed assessments, rubric assessments, raw score assessments, and document based assessments (scanned).
Canvas assignments must be published to show in the Gradebook. Additionally, any updates made to the Tracker will display in the Gradebook.
Speedgrader is also available for grading MasteryConnect assessments.
