In recognition of World Mental Health Day, let’s pause to reflect on the role self-care plays in our overall well-being. Whether it’s taking a walk, journaling, spending time with loved ones, or simply unplugging, small actions can have a big impact on our mental health.

What does self-care look like for you?
Solved! Go to Solution.
My therapist once told me "You can breathe your way through anything." When I notice stress in my body, I try to focus on my breath. Controlling my breath helps me lower my heart rate, and be a little more embodied. I have to take time to slow down and turn my attention to my breath. Something that helps me with this is focusing on the pressure I feel at the tip of my nostrils while exhaling. I know it's a little strange, but it works for me!
Taking a walk in the park - I live in a city, so I'll go to a less crowded part of my local park to breathe and see beautiful scenery and it always helps me recenter my own thoughts and mood.

Self-care is something that doesn't come naturally to me. It's difficult to prioritize my own needs above those of others, especially my family. I think something I work to do is have time to myself. Whether it's just reading a book or walking around a store on my own, I really value the opportunity to just clear my head of the mental clutter that comes with life! I can't wait to hear what others suggest!
One of my favorite ways to unplug is knitting because it’s impossible to scroll aimlessly when my hands are busy! I also love picking a more challenging recipe on the weekend. There’s something really grounding about learning, baking/cooking, and creating something new. And when I have extra time, puzzles are my go-to. I love that little sense of accomplishment as everything comes together.
