Weekly Online Activity

Weekly Online Activity allows instructors to view the average number of page views and participations for a course using an interactive chart or table. Additionally, instructors can filter analytics results to compare the average course activity with a specific section or student.

Data Status

For reporting accuracy, the page displays the last time analytics data was last updated. The analytics tool is updated every 24 hours.

Note: If the course has been concluded, the analytics page includes a Concluded label above the Data Last Updated date.

Chart Filters

The analytics page is dynamic based on filtered content. By default, all sections are displayed. Three total filters can be applied at one time.

Filtered data is displayed as a chart with two rows: average page views and average participations. The average grade percentage for all students is also displayed, which is not affected by any filter.

Tray Details

Detail can be viewed for any data graph point or data table percentage by clicking the data point or percentage. Detail metrics can be viewed for the date range and display in a tray.

In the data tray, additional metrics are provided for the date range, including active filters, total page views, the number of students who did and didn’t view a resource, total participations, and number of students who did and did not participate in the date range.

In an activity comparison with a section, additional metrics provide details for the section name, total page views and participations, and the number of students who did and did not view resources or participate for the date range. Users can also send a message to any students who did or did not view a resource or participate within the date range directly from the section metrics card.

Data Table

Data can also be viewed as a data table by clicking the Data Table option within the Chart Options menu. Shapes can also be used within the data table, although they only display next to the filter names along the Y axis.

Detail can be viewed for any data point by clicking the percentage link.

Data Table

Student Table

The Student table displays below the chart or data table, which displays all students within a specific filter.

For each student, the table displays the student's name, number of page views, and number of participations.

Student Table

The student table is ordered alphabetically by last name. Any column can be sorted by clicking the column header. An arrow next to the header names indicates which column is sorting the content.

By default, the table displays twenty students at a time. To view additional pages, click a page number below the table or the Next Page arrow, if available.

Resources Table

The Resources table displays below the chart or data table, which displays all resources within a specific filter.

For each resource, the table displays the resource’s URL path, number of students who have accessed the resource, total number of page views, and the total number of participations.

Resources Table

The resources table is ordered by the number of students who accessed the resource. Any column can be sorted by clicking the column header. An arrow next to the header names indicates which column is sorting the content.

By default, the table displays twenty resources at a time. To view additional pages, click a page number below the table or the Next Page arrow, if available.

Message Students Who

Messages can be sent to students whose page views or participations are within specific criteria. All students can be messaged at one time, and selection criteria will be applied to students participation status on all resources. The student selection is based on student participation status.

Message Students Who

Individual students can also be messaged directly from any student comparison card. When comparing a section, students in the section with the specified participation status can be messaged directly from the section comparison card.

Table CSV Export

Analytics Beta allows data to be exported as a CSV file. CSV data is exported according to the filtered data in the chart or data table.

The downloaded zip file includes CSV files for chart data, student table data, and resources table data. CSV files may display a student's full name, sortable name, week start, filters, average and total page views, average and total participations, and the resource.
