We have a timed, single attempt only quiz. A student claims to have had a computer-related problem whilst taking the quiz and then switched to a different device to complete the same quiz. This does not sound like it is, or should be, possible but maybe Canvas operates differently to other LMSs I've used in the past. Can anyone enlighten me please.
I've search the fora and can't seem to find anything that helps.

I just did some testing and here is what I found:
- Even with a single attempt users can go in and out of the quizzes as they choose, as long as the attempt is never submitted.
- This would allow users to switch devices.
- While not foolproof, you could go view the users access reports and you would likely see the paper trail of them accessing the course and then the quiz once, and then doing it a second time.

Many thanks for taking the time to test this. I had looked at the logs and activity stopped for about 5 minutes half way through the test period. The next entry in the logs was 'Session started'. This is what made me wonder whether this might be a possibility, and you've clearly shown that's the case.
This presumably means I could give my login details to someone and we could both work on the test at the same time.
If two people worked on it at the same time you would see some anomalies in the logs, and an admin could see the 2 IP addresses in use during the quiz. If you were suspicious you could ask your admin to check. Note that a student could give their login information and have someone else take the entire quiz, so I don't think this resume function is more of a chance to cheat. It really helps students who have an issue with their computer.
Yeah, students can have multiple browsers open taking the quiz at the same time.
However, all of this could be traced and you would be able to determine that two different devices were being used.
Hi @AlexiUM, students can leave and then later resume a quiz as long as the time limit allows.
How do I resume a quiz that I already started taki... - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com)
