Export Item Bank to QTI

Hello,

Is there a way to export the questions from an NQ Item Bank to a QTI file?

I would like to discontinue using Item Banks for a course, and create a 'flat' quiz, that does not link to Item Banks.

All of my questions are in Item Banks, and I cannot seem to find a way to get them out, without re-typing them.

There are a few ways to get the questions in a quiz disconnected from the Item Bank they are associated with.  If the questions are added to the quiz from the Item Bank individually (not using All or Random in a question group), you can duplicate each question in the quiz.  The duplicated version of the question will not be associated with the Item Bank, but will be identical to the Item Bank question in every other way.  You could then remove the Item Bank-associated version of the question from the quiz. More on duplicating questions in a New Quiz can be found in How do I duplicate an individual question in New Quizzes? 

If your questions are added to the quiz as question groups (All or Random option), you are not able to duplicate the questions in the quiz.  In this case you could either add the questions from the Item Bank to the quiz individually and then duplicating them, or you could export the New Quiz and then import the QTI file that you download as the quiz export.  Item Bank questions are included in quiz exports.  More on exporting and importing New Quizzes can be found in How do I export a New Quiz from a course? and How do I import a quiz from a QTI package in New Quizzes?

Thanks. I will try the method of duplicating each question. That will be very, very time consuming though.

I tried to export the New Quiz and then import the QTI file, but it did not extract the questions from the item banks, the QTI effectively remembered the associations with the Item Banks.

Item Banks should be able to be exported as QTI files, or NQs should be able to be exported with all questions as a flat file. Being able to export questions is just a good feature to have. It can help solve problems.

It's similar to Question Banks. However, although those couldn't be exported, they could be brought into a quiz in a question group, then the quiz could be exported with all of the questions.

I too, had this same issue. I tried to do an export on a new quiz that had individual questions tied to an item bank... It wasn't pulling over any of those questions, most of the time , when I would import the exported qti file, it would be a blank import. I am trying to create a quiz with only questions, but these questions live in an item bank. Is there any other route to take?

Have you tried the route Nicolette mentioned? It appears as though that should resolve the issue. Outside of that method, I don't believe we have a way to separate them from the item banks themselves. I'll include her comment here
