course navigation from new quiz build page

If I can access the Build page of a new quiz from the assignment settings page, why can't I access the assignment settings from the Build page of a new quiz? For that matter, what is the purpose in not showing the course navigation in the left sidebar while building quizzes? I understand that New Quizzes are a weird external submission type thing, but since they don't open in a new window/tab to be built/edited, it seems like navigation back to the settings page or at least the usual Canvas course navigation links should be possible.

From the build page go to the URL in the browser and add /edit

then press enter

this should take you into the assignment settings

This is a good trick, thank you - but it doesn't deal with the issue, which is that no one should have to manually edit the URL to get to what I think many would consider the fundamental page/location of the item we are working on. This functionality should be built in to the page, simple as that.
