Transition to Talent Neuron with Integrated Labor Market Data
Admin Issuer
Summary
Canvas Credentials is integrating Talent Neuron as the default taxonomy, incorporating market labor data. Additionally, a Flexible Skills option is available for custom skill definitions.
Notes:
- During the transition to Talent Neuron taxonomy, institutions can choose to continue using Lightcast or other preferred taxonomies with the Flexible Skills option. However, this removes access to in-app labor market data providing insights on how earned skills apply in today’s job market.
- Skills already added to badges are directly linked to Talent Neuron’s taxonomy. However, for a few skills that don’t have an exact match, issuers will need to select the most appropriate skill from the Talent Neuron taxonomy.
- Institutions have 30 days to make internal decisions regarding their skills taxonomy choice. If no changes are made, the default taxonomy remains Talent Neuron and any skills previously associated are migrated to the Talent Neuron taxonomy. If the institution chooses to continue leveraging Lightcast skills, selecting the Flexible Skills Taxonomy will keep all existing Lightcast skills intact and allow the addition of more Lightcast skills.
Change Benefit
This change enhances Canvas Credentials by providing more precise and up-to-date labor market data using Talent Neuron. With broader coverage and detailed analytics, users gain a comprehensive view of global labor market trends, enabling better-informed decisions on career development and workforce planning.
