Summary
Issuers can define Manual Experiences as requirements for any step within a Canvas Credentials Pathway. These are non-badge activities that can be manually evaluated based on the issuer’s criteria. Evaluations can be done individually, for a group, or in bulk via CSV. Additionally, the progress tracking logic is updated to accurately reflect manual evaluations and new completion criteria.
Change Benefit
This update enhances flexibility and authenticity in credentialing by allowing issuers to include experiential or offline activities without requiring a badge, supporting more accurate progress tracking and competency-based learning pathways.
Feature Workflow
Add Step Manual Requirement Tray
In the Pathway Builder, click the Add Requirement button to add a manual experience.
Add Requirement Drop-Down Menu
In the Requirement type drop-down menu, click the Manual Requirement Experience option.
Define The Requirement Fields
Enter an Experience Name [1] and an optional Experience Description [2]. Then click the Add Requirement button [3].
Evaluate Experience Tray
In the Progress view, Issuers can choose to complete individual evaluations or group evaluations choosing one status for all learners as Completed [1] or Criteria Unmet [2]. Once a selection is made, click the Submit button [3].
Bulk Evaluation Modal
To Bulk evaluate learners using CSV Files, use the file section to upload the desired CSV [1]. Then, click the Upload and Review button [2].
Progress Tracking View
Progress tracking is updated for both individual learners and group-level views to accommodate manual evaluation workflows:
- A step is considered complete only when all badges and manual experiences are marked as Completed, and all prerequisite steps are fulfilled.
- Learners marked Criteria Unmet will not count toward step or pathway completion.
- Progress bars and pie charts update in near real time, with a brief delay for data syncing.
- Group progress is calculated based on the completion status of each learner for each requirement.
- End-of-pathway status updates for both individual learners and groups incorporate manual evaluation results.
Explanation Tray
To improve clarity, in-product explanations of this logic are added to the Pathway view and step trays.
Note: Once a learner is marked as Completed for a manual experience, the status is locked. However, a Criteria Unmet status can be updated later if needed.
